Femme Of The Day: Brandy Speaks On Motherhood

Brandy did an interview with Parade speaking on her style of motherhood and why we never see her daughter. She shields her daughter from the limelight well, I almost forgot she even had child... Also, check out Brandy and her shoot with YRB.
Would you ever want your 7-year-old daughter, Sy'rai, to get into the entertainment business?
"If that was something that she really wanted to do -- like the way I was passionate about it when I was her age -- then of course I would support her completely. But if it were my choice, I'd keep her out of it as long as I could"

She never featured on the show, right?
"No, she's not. That's strictly because her father and I felt it was best for her to have as much of a normal life as possible. Of course, you've seen her on one episode on 'For the Love of Ray J,' but it wasn't every day. You didn't see her going to school, me combing her hair, or any aspect of our private, intimate moments, which sort of sucks because our relationship is so beautiful. I love being a mom and I'm raising her in a different way than how I was raised. Some things that my mom did with me, I do with my daughter -- it's just a different dynamic. I would love for people to see how I'm doing it because I think I could be a good example of a young, single mom."

What are you doing differently?
"A lot of mothers feel like they're the mom first, with that authority. But for me, I'm a friend first. I believe that just being there for my daughter as a friend more than 'I'm in charge...' causes her to be more open with me as a person. That's just what our relationship is. Of course, there are times when I have to discipline her -- I'm mom. But there's still that nurturing and love there that we have. I know I'll probably get flack for being a friend first, but it really works. She's really honest with me. I'm just teaching her how to trust herself. I tell her all the time that my life is not your life -- you have your own life. At the end of the day we're going to be friends. When she grows up, it'll be about that friendship that we'll have. She'll come to me for any problems that she has. If I have an authoritative wall up, she's going to rebel and not come to me and I don't want that."

Brandy Kills It At R&B Live

Brandy definitely killed it at the R&B Live event. Her show, with her brother Ray J is definitely keeping her in the public eye, and this performance couldn't have come at a better time. When she performed she was embraced with open arms. The R&B Live event hosted by the Key Club in West Hollywood. Check out the video of her performing Almost Doesn’t Count and At Last and pictures down below...

New Video: Zoosk Girl by Flo Rida

Flo Rida goes to 'cyberspace' to find a “Zoosk Girl”. o_O? Exactly. The song features T-Pain. I guess he's doing what he can not to be the one-hit wonder who made "Low". This song is off his third album, entitled The Only 1. And ever since I heard Flo Rida and Brandy were talking, I'm going to assume that every song he makes about her. Shoot, who gon check me boo?

Brandy And Ray J x Basketball Wives x What Chilli Wants

I'm not one to watch reality shows, but last night, after all the hype, I had to check these joints out... and I must say, Vh1 has a season of great Sunday night shows lined up.

Brandy & Ray J: A Family Business.. This episode basically Ray J as a mama's boy and that Brandy wants to rap. Oh and that she throws shade on everyone she seems to introduce..

What Chilli Wants.. The show features Chilli from TLC and a relationship advice expert Tionna Smalls... I have the utmost respect for Tionna because she started out blogging (like me!). Towards the end of the episode you see that some 'diva' stuff goes down, but from whom?.. hmmmmm... I guess we'll have to stay tuned.

Basketball Wives. The entire episode for this isn't available yet (on VH1), but basically is a bunch of grown women acting like they're in high school and picking on the youngest girl (the dancer) Royce. I like Royce, and this little clip pretty much shows how the other women try and boss her around. If they minded their homes, maybe their men wouldn't cheat.

Epic Monica and Brandy Beef Squashed!

Do you remember when "The Boy Is Mine" came out? Word was that these chicks were singing about Usher, and that after that song/video was released they were "beefing". I guess over the years these two R&B divas went their separate ways and supposedly "lost touch". According to Monica, they have reconciled via twitter and it 'feels good' it feels so good.
“She found me through Twitter. We lost touch and some of my followers told me that she was looking for me, and it was just a blessing for us to be able to make back up. We are complete opposites, but I think that gives us a chance to really see things from a different perspective on a regular basis. She is a lot calmer than I am and helps me objectively deal with some things. Sometimes I’m able to bring a different perspective on things she may be experiencing. As adults, at 29 and 30 years old, we have a great relationship and a great rapport with one another. We talk about different things inside and outside of the industry.”
I don't believe the bit about losing contact, especially when these two swim in the same circle and are in the same industry, but I do like that they are grown enough to handle their differences... Even though it was over a decade later. Better late than never.

Brandy And Ray J "Family Business" Reel

“In their new 11, one-hour episode series, both Brandy and Ray J will expand their roles in the family business. Brandy will step back into the music scene and team up with famous producer Timbaland for a new album all the while raising her seven year-old daughter Sy’rai and working through the fall out from her 2006 car accident. We’ll also see Ray J stepping out of his notorious bad boy image and collaborating with Rodney Jerkins and other popular R&B heavyweights. Father, Willie will continue to sing and coach his famous children while being the original voice of reason. And the matriarch of the family, Sonja, will strive to keep her famous family on the right track, while passing the family business down to her two superstar children.”

I like the insight it gives into Brandy's life, but I really am not trying to see Ray J on another reality show. But, this looks like it'll be good. We'll see...

Ray J and Brandy Have a New Reality Show

Ray J and Brandy are going to be in a new VH1 reality show. This is their promotional video. In the video Ray J does a MJ impersonation and everybody else in the house is peeping... well, no offense to Brandy and the family. But after all the seasons of "For The Love of Ray J", and the other B.S. reality shows, I have no intention of watching this. I'd rather watch re-run episodes of Law & Order. The show airs April 11th at 9/8c on VH1!
