Arizona -- The Racist State

Last Friday, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, signed one of the harshest anti-illegal immigration bills ever. The whole purpose of the anti-illegal immigration bill, also known as SB 1070, is to deport illegal immigrants. In order to deport illegal immigrant, you’ve got to identify them right? Well, the bill says that’s okay! Feel free to ask anyone that is of a ‘tan’ pigment for their documentation, stating that they are legally allowed to be here. The bill is a skewed attempt for Arizona to try and tighten its borders to prevent illegal immigrants from coming, at the same time removes illegal immigrants who are already here. I don’t know about you, but I have problems with ‘government officials’ being allowed to racially profile me.
The fact that in 2010, such a racist bill could be signed into law is outrageous!

Activist Raul Grijalva stated in an open letter to President Obama, “SB 1070 would exacerbate the problem of racial profiling . . . and would continue to compromise the civil rights of citizens, legal residents, tourists and foreign visitors…” The letter goes on to say that there “have been subject to serious concerns as local law enforcement agencies have used the new powers to target communities of color, including a disproportionate number of Latinos for arrest…. This law will put every policeman in the state on notice that their main duty from now on is to question Hispanics about their citizenship… This is a discriminatory policy that cannot be enforced without committing grave breaches of due process and equal protection. The law will not withstand legal scrutiny, and I call on the president immediately to reject it in the strongest possible terms.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself. I really think President Obama needs to step in and do something. I don’t know if he can legally repeal State law, but he should try. People are outraged at this bill. There have been protesters outside of Arizona’s Statehouse, since its signing. This is not the first time that Arizona has been overly conservative when it comes to lawmaking. Arizona was the last state to accept Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday as a public holiday, and would not have done so unless there were drastic economic boycotts were imparted by the remaining 49 states. Some truck drivers are already refusing to drive through Arizona, and groups are already beginning to boycott all Arizona goods and services.

This past Tuesday, Al Sharpton said, "We will go to Arizona when this bill goes into effect and walk the streets with people who refuse to give identification and force arrest." Other celebrities, like Shakira, will be in Arizona today, speaking out on the bill, protesting and motivating the masses to take action… The bill doesn’t officially take effect until 90 days from its signing. But, if you have a ‘tan’ and no papers, I suggest you get out of Arizona while you can.

The Compton Cookout - Jiggaboo's Response

At UCSD (University of California, San Diego) they had a party called the Compton Cookout... The party was geared towards white students, and they were required to participate in "coon" activities. Party goers were required to bring a bucket of chicken or watermelon, dress in "hood attire" and use vernacular stereotypical to the black community... The party theme attracted the attention of viral Promoter Jiggaboo Jones, a 37 year old black man who refers to himself as the "no. 1 nigger in America"... There were thousands of attendees. Minority UCSD students were outraged and asked the administration to take action, but the school did nothing. A few days later a white girl, who had attended the party, hung a noose in their school library. She was the only one reprimanded by suspension. Via Dauche I came across this site http://comptoncookout.com/... this statement was issued by "Jiggaboo" himself. I copied and pasted it, and took a screen shot of the site as to not give his site any more hits than necessary.

As we have done several times and several places before. A few days before the event we were unable to get a full screening copy of the DVD in time for the event. With the wheels of the event already in motion it was thought it would still be fun to have the party they invited some friends from UCSD and it went off great and it was a good time had by all. A few people who were rowdy participants from Nigga Nite 2009 showed up, and we turned them away, because we didn’t want any fights or Police Involvement.

Over the next few days some hate mongering black people had told a pack of lies about our event stating that a White Fraternity and several members of the KKK threw a Racist party that made fun of black people. This lie was quickly soaked up by people with some kind of political agenda to spread hate and discontent among people who attend UCSD. The divisive few told a “Woa is me” tale of how all blacks at UCSD are almost lynched in trees seemingly everyday. Members of the media ate this up because this type of story sells papers, gets people pissed off and keeps them tuning in. Blog sites went crazy and facebook fascists took their laptops and started the witch hunt that would ruin the reputations of several good hearted people and their families with their inaccurate statements. Several fans called my phones, lit up voicemail and emails wondering why I wasn’t coming out to defend the members of my San Diego Street team.

There IS Hope For Haiti

Tonight expect to see a few touching performances from some big stars. MTV’s “Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief,” will performances from Jay-Z, Rihanna,Wyclef, The Edge, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, John Legend, Beyoncé, and many more.... All donations will benefit Oxfam America, Partners in Health, Red Cross, UNICEF and Wyclef’s Yele Haiti foundation.

All yesterday there was a rumor that Kanye West had been banned from the “Hope For Haiti” star studded telethon. MTV Network reps are denying those claims. But rumors just don't materialize out of no where...

A source released a statement saying that Yeezy was banned because of his tendency to “steal the spotlight and the infamous remarks about George Bush he made at the Katrina telethon. They told AOL's PopEater, “After what he said on the Katrina telethon and the way he behaved at the MTV Video Music Awards, everyone agrees it's just best that he does not participate…Kanye has to make everything about himself. He will do anything to steal the spotlight, and, well, this night it's just not about him.”

MTV Networks claims that's not true that they reached out to Ye', but that he chose not to participate... Rumors don't materialize out of "nothing", but *shrugs*... all that matters is that the people of Haiti get the help they need. I Give Anderson Cooper Props...

Anderson Cooper and Sanjay Gupta played superheros on CNN over the weekend. First off, while covering the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake, Cooper put down his camera and microphone and pulled a bloodied young boy away from a chaotic scene in front of a storefront in Port-au-Prince. Footage of the chaos shows Cooper amid a group of rock-hurling looters. The boy shown in the segment was apparently struck in the head by debris and began bleeding profusely. Cooper began helping the child walk away, but then decided to carry him to safer ground. Via PopEater.

Girl With AIDS Video A Joke

This girl was either suicidal or dumb as a rock... but thank God it was all a joke. *smh Shout out to @Flyyasskai for telling me about this...

The woman who caused a stir on the Internet this week with a video in which she says she has infected more than 500 people with HIV told The Detroit News today that she does not have the virus. “I don’t have AIDS,” Jackie Braxton, 23, said in an interview. “I made the tape because I wanted to raise awareness about AIDS.” Police picked up Braxton at a college she attends downtown and immediately took her to the city’s health department to be tested for the virus that causes AIDS. The test results are confidential, but Braxton said she does not have HIV.
The video, posted on Mediatakeout.com, generated several calls to the Detroit Police Department on Wednesday and Thursday. Braxton said she feels “bad” about making the video that has spread panic among Metro Detroiters and others around the country. But, she said she felt her tape served its purpose when she went to the city’s health department this morning and saw people waiting to get tested for AIDS. Braxton, who uses the stage name “Fame” and has a 5-year-old daughter, admitted she made the videotape to market her own porn site, which she says she operates with her husband. Read More

Teen Boy's Mother Locks Him in Closet for 4 Yrs

First and foremost, I when I heard about this story, I thought it was a "yo mama" joke gone wrong. It wasn't until I watched the clip and read some more, that I saw the seriousness of this. The little boy was just 14! This mom, has issues.

Bernell McCall has finally had the chance to tell his story in a court of law. The name may be unfamiliar, but you'll remember his story. McCall is the Oklahoma teen who captured headlines last September when he escaped from his bindings and fled from the closet where he was being held. Nearly naked, starving and scarred, McCall fled to a National Guard compound where he told authorities that he had been imprisoned and tortured by his mother (LaRhonda Marie McCall, 37) and her boyfriend (Steve Vern Hamilton, 38) for years.

ADHD x Solange x Black Community

Last night, while flipping through AOL news, I come across one of their featured stories, Solange Knowles diagnosed with ADHD. ADHD stands for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. First of all I wondered, "why is this headline news?"... and then secondly I wondered, "I didn't think black adults could be diagnosed with ADHD.." So, I pulled out all my biology books, searched scholar journals, and did some extensive research. I even contacted some college professors who specialize in genetic predisposition. I found that though it is an uncommon trend, black adults CAN be diagnosed with ADHD...

The AOL article went on to talk about how Solange didn't believe when a doctor told her she had ADHD. "I was diagnosed with ADD twice. I didn't believe the first doctor who told me and I had a whole theory that ADD was just something they invented to make you pay for medicine, but then the second doctor told me I had it." Solange also went on to talk about how the symptoms mess with her daily life. "People think I'm high even when I'm sober," she said. Her high levels of energy and her sporadic speech make people believe she is high. In addition, Solange admitted to telling "silly" lies to make people laugh. She sees herself as having a sense of humor that other people do not always share.

Although ADHD can cause some difficulties, many people with ADHD are very successful in life. There are drugs, like ritilan, or exercise regimes and whatnot... I'm glad she's been diagnosed so she can work on whatever she needs to work on, but at the same time I am sad, because its another disease, us as a black community has to worry about. Get yourself checked out.

The Dumbest Bank Robbers Ever Invented .... #EpicFail

These have got to be the dumbest bank robbers even invented... how are you going to call ahead and tell them to get the money ready for you to steal it? *smh... now, I've heard everything... Read the exerp from CNN.

According to CNN Authorities in Connecticut say two would-be robbers tried “phoning in” to pull off a bank heist. “I’ve heard of drive-up robberies where they rob the bank via drive-up windows,” said Det. Lt. Michael Gagner of the Fairfield, Connecticut, Police Department. “But I’ve never had somebody call ahead and say, ‘Get the money, we’re coming.’

“The attempted bank job unfolded Tuesday afternoon at a branch of the People’s Bank in Fairfield. Authorities said a bank employee received a phone call from a person demanding that $100,000 in large bills be gathered, or there would be a “blood bath” if the orders were not carried out. The employee hung up the phone and immediately called 911, Gagner said. The bank also initiated a lockdown but not before the caller’s accomplice was already inside, Gagner said. According to Gagner, the accomplice handed a teller a note demanding money at the exact same time the bank employee was talking on the phone to the police. “The guy is literally giving us a blow-by-blow, saying the robbery is going down,” Gagner said. After passing the note and collecting about $900, the suspect politely asked to be let out of the bank, Gagner said. By this time, patrol cars were on the scene. The suspect left the bank and encountered a police officer who ordered him to stop, Gagner said. The suspect then tried to run to the car where the other suspect was waiting. Both were arrested without incident. Police identified one suspect as Albert Bailey, 27, of Bridgeport, Connecticut. The other suspect is a juvenile.

This is soooooooo surreal. Looking at this video makes us want to be there to help this dude fight... 3 against 1? this ain't grade school... you don't jump some1... These dudes were fighting the black guy simply because he's black... The black dude held his own but I wish he would have knocked them all out. This all went down last week and in “racism-free” British Columbia/Canada. As the guy said to a reporter, don’t sleep, some Black folks still have to watch their back, literally.You would think that in this day and age things like this wouldn't happen... *smh

A Cure For Aids?

For the first time, an experimental vaccine has prevented infection with the AIDS virus. Recent failures led many scientists to think such a vaccine might never be possible. The vaccine cut the risk of becoming infected with HIV by more than 31 percent in the world’s largest AIDS vaccine trial of more than 16,000 volunteers in Thailand, researchers announced Thursday in Bangkok. Even though the benefit is modest, “it’s the first evidence that we could have a safe and effective preventive vaccine,” Col. Jerome Kim said in a telephone interview. He helped lead the study for the U.S. Army, which sponsored it with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

Even a marginally helpful vaccine could have a big impact. Every day, 7,500 people worldwide are newly infected with HIV; 2 million died of AIDS in 2007, the U.N. agency UNAIDS estimates. “This is a scientific breakthrough,” Thai Health Minister Witthaya Kaewparadai told a news conference in Bangkok. “For the first time ever there is evidence that HIV vaccine has preventative efficacy.”

Police Brutality at its Finest

Police body slam an 80 year old woman at Wal-mart... I don't know the events leading up to, or after this... but there is NO REASON for that amount of force to be used ever. Especially on an old woman who obviously needed a cane to walk...

*smh at the video man “this footage you gotta get close wit that sh*t man”... I just lost my last living grandma on Thursday, at age 100-something. We don't know her exact age, because in Nigeria they didn't really know of birth certificates back then... Anyway, in watching this video my heart breaks. Treating an old woman like this, inexcusable.

Blue M&Ms

So, I was on twitter, and all of the sudden Blue M&M's hit number 1 on the trending topics. Thought I'd figure out what the big deal is.....

The food dye that gives blue M&Ms their color can help mend spinal injuries. Researchers have claimed this fact after running tests on rats. The compound Brilliant Blue G blocks a chemical that kills healthy spinal cord cells around the damaged area - an event that often causes more irreversible damage than the original injury. BBG not only reduced the size of the lesion but also improved the recovery of motor skills, the rodent tests showed. Those treated with BBG were later able to walk, although with a limp. Rats that did not receive the BBG solution never regained the ability to walk. The only catch is, the treatment causes the skin to temporarily turn bright blue and BBG needs to be injected soon after the trauma. The test injections were given within 15 minutes... I think this is SO dope. *round of applause* for researchers. Now cure cancer, then HIV/Aids.
