♫ New Music: Teqkilla REMIX by M.I.A. feat. Nicki Minaj

Over the weekend Nicki Minaj remixed M.I.A's "Teqkilla". M.I.A. always has the most out-of-the-box beats, and this beat in particular took a while to grow on me. One thing I love about M.I.A. is that she will throw shade at anyone at anytime. Listen and download the song here, and check out two of my favorite shaded moments below...

“People say we’re [her & Lady Gaga] similar, that we both mix all these things in the pot and spit them out differently, but she spits it out exactly the same! None of her music’s reflective of how weird she wants to be or thinks she is. She models herself on Grace Jones and Madonna, but the music sounds like 20-year-old Ibiza music, you know? She’s not progressive, but she’s a good mimic.”
“I find the new Justin Bieber video more violent and more of an assault to my eyes and senses than what I’ve made.”
Someone once told me that 'they' can only throw shade if you're shining.... *think about it*

M.I.A. Covers Complex

Here's a look at the upcoming June/July 2010 issue of Complex Magazine, M.I.A. graces the cover. I guess she means business about her comeback. Lately she's been saying some outlandish things, like when she called Justin Bieber offensive, I just hope that when she drops her album it wont suffer. Check out the behind the scenes video, the cover is pretty intricate.

M.I.A. Thinks Justin Bieber Is Offensive

M.I.A. is responding to the criticism surrounding her controversial music video for “Born Free” and basically said that Justin Beiber is more offensive than she is. Just in case you haven't seen her video, #Dimplezshrug, because it was so violent it was banned from YouTube. The clip was directed by Romain Gavras and it really encompassed the point, but for M.I.A. to sit there and say she doesn't know what the big deal is, and that J. Biebs is offensive, sounds like someone needs some attention. I'm sure as you read this, Justin Beiber fans are planning a 10 year boycott on all M.I.A. material.
“If I’m honest, I find the new Justin Bieber video more violent and more of an assault to my eyes and senses than what I’ve made,” M.I.A. tells NME magazine.... “I did nine hours of phone interviews yesterday and all anyone wanted to know about was the meaning of the video,” she adds. “It completely baffles me that everyone seems obsessed with deciphering the meaning to it, in the same way as the Brick Lane riot for American Apparel leggings baffled me.”
...with all the Jay-luminati rumors, can you REALLY blame folks for wanting to know the meaning behind what they're watching? Lets be real, we're in a very lackadaisical society, so the fact that anyone ever cares so much as to care to ask, well, it shows that we're making progress. M.I.A. will release her third album /\/\/\Y/\ on July 13. The title spells out her real name Maya in slashes. The first single “XXXO” off "Maya" hit earlier this week, [Download Here].The Blaqstarr version can be heard only on her website... Hopefully she comes back from this J. Beiber remark before July.
